Opis

It would be a great honor for us if you considered participating with your choir in the 3rd edition of Arta Sacred Music Festival (April 9-12) in Arta (Greece), the hometown of St. Maximus the Greek (Maksim Grek). Organized by the Cultural Association of Arta "Makrygiannis", Arta Sacred Music Festival is a non-competitive event and there is no participation fee. During the days of the festival, choirs have the opportunity to perform inside the beautiful churches of Byzantine city of Arta. Each choir performs a sacred music program of about 20 minutes, including music of different denominations (not only Orthodox music). It should be mentioned that the 2^nd edition of the festival received the prestigious IGNITE grant of European Choral Association. For more information, please contact directly Mr. Antonis Ververis

Conductors’ views

We were delighted to accept the invitation for our choir, Cantelena, to participate in the 2nd Arta Sacred Music Festival, specifically at the church of St. Maximus the Greek. We had the experience of enjoying the feeling of singing in an Orthodox church in a special atmosphere of reverence. It was an honor for us to take part in such a high-level festival with flawless organization and hospitality.

Our participation in the 2nd Arta Sacred Music Festival, organized with great success by the choir of the “Makrygiannis” Cultural Association, could only be unforgettable. One could say that the choice of venue was ideal for performing a capella choral works like the ones we presented. The organizers had everything figured out and we felt as we were at home. We hope that this wonderful initiative will continue for many more years and gather choirs from all over the world where they will share wonderful sacred choral music with the audience of Arta!
