Raudondvario kultūros centro mišrus choras „Svajonė“

The mixed choir of the town Raudondvaris was founded in 1960. The choir fulfills the songs and other compositions by Lithuanian and foreign composers. During the years the choir participated in the National Song Festivals in Vilnius, in the region song festivals in Kaunas and in a great number of concerts and events throughout the country. The choir has also had concerts in Estonia, Ukraine, Russia, Byelorussia, Latvia, Poland.

Raundondvaris is the place where the Lithuanian composer Juozas Naujalis was born. Juozas Naujalis was one of the first professionals in the field of Lithuanian music. He was also the first Lithuanian to write about music and the founder of the first music school in Kaunas.

Furthermore, he was the most prominent organist of his time as well as the choir director, teacher and organizer of the first music festivals in Lithuania.

Since 1971 in Raudondvaris the contest of mixed choirs take place. The choir „Svajonė” is the winner of these contests. In 2005 the choir was named „Svajonė” (after the famous composition of Juozas Naujalis „The Dream”).
