Opis
The International Festival of Boys' Choirs is a cultural initiative of Poznan Boys' Choir dating back to the 1960s. 1967 Jerzy Kurczewski, the founder and at the time artistic director of Poznan Boys' Choir, organised the first International Boys' Choirs Meetings, the event was continued, however, in irregular time intervals. At the beginning, the boys' choirs that were invited to Poland mainly came from the Eastern block countries, it changed later on, and the choirs from other corners of the world started to participate in the festival in Poznan, too. In 1983 the event was renamed into the International Festival of Boys' Choirs [Międzynarodowy Festiwal Chórów Chłopięcych] to better reflect its purpose. This name was used until 1989. Next the organisation of the festival was taken over by the new conductor of the choir and was renamed again into Global Festival of Boys' [Światowy Festiwal Chórów Chłopięcych] [translator's note: the English name used remained the same, though - International Festival of Boys' Choirs] Since 2008, the organisation of the festival has been continued by Jacek Sykulski - the present conductor and director of Poznan Boys' Choir. 11-th International Festival of Boys' Choirs is scheduled for 24-31 of August 2014. The participants are the choirs from Latvia, Lithuania, Taiwan, 3 choirs from Germany and two choirs from Poznan. The guest of the Festival will be the Girls' Choir from Poznan Choral School. We particularly would like to invite you to the following events: the Festival Opening Concert (on stage we will see Poznan Boys' Choir, the Boys' and Men's Choir of the State Philharmonic in Poznań „Poznańskie Słowiki" and the guest performance of the Girls' Choir from Poznan Choral School. „Romancero Agitano" - Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco (with Łukasz Kuropaczewski - the guitar and „Ażuoliukas" Boys' Choir from Lithuania) „Royal music of London Court Music Group" (performed by Hanover Boys' Choir, Poznan Boys' Choir and Baroque Orchestra of Poznan Academy of Music) „Kinderkreuzzug" - Ralf Gawlick - concert commemorating the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of the 2nd World War (performances by the Boys' Choir of the Choral Academy in Dortmund, Boys' Choir Gütersloh, Poznan Boys' Choir and Sinfonietta Polonia Orchestra)
