On December 14, in the Chamber Music Hall after Komitas, the “Armenia’s small singers” choir, directed by Tigran Heqeqyan, performed a concert within the “Peace to the Earth” project. The concert called to unite the humanity around the idea of peace. This call, expressed in music in Yerevan, has reached Germany as well. On December 20, the “Shogher” choir, directed by Armine Babayan, performed it for the Armenian and German audience in Munich’s Armenian Patriotic Community (Armenische Landsmannschaft in München e. V.). The program included not only Armenian spiritual and folk music, but also Armenian, as well as other nationalities’ New Year and Christmas songs. On the same day, this message landed in St. Michael church of Stuttgart, performed by the vocal ensemble of southwestern radio headed by Florian Helgat.

In the context of this world events, these concerts were a symbol of love for one another, compassion and tolerance.

“Shogher” choir was formed in 2012 in Munich’s Armenian Patriotic Community by the conductor Armine Babayan. Munich-based young women and girls of different professional backgrounds were united by their love towards music. Together with that, they wish to preserve the Armenian choral culture outside of Armenia, as well as to introduce the Germans and other ethnic groups living in Germany to Armenian culture.
